Kiteboarding Perth Australia 2005/06

Monday, November 21st, 2005

The anticipation of leaving for Western Australia to kiteboard in the waves is driving me crazy. I have touched base with some sponsored riders in Western Australia and they are going to pick me up at the airport on the November 28. My friend, Bear, is bringing his windsurfing gear to WA. He will get the time on the waves he has been waiting a lifetime for, but once he sees the light of the sport of kiteboarding in the waves and the shallow flat water he will want to get into kiteboarding.

When a Kiteboarder is learning, some times he or she is unaware of the wind effects on some obstacles. Learning about the area and the wind effect should be considered before trying to learn on your own. Obstacles down wind from the launch site can also be dangerous. If a kiter is over powered, or maybe just slips he can get pulled into objects that can cause serious harm or death.

Turning your Directional Board

To turn on a directional board is not as hard as you might think. Directional boards seem to be coming back into use a lot more. They are good for beginners and going upwind and when the wind velocity is light. They are usually more buoyant and go in one direction well.
